Washers
Washers are the cheapest insurance in a dock build. Without one, a nut or bolt head crushes into soft treated timber, the connection loosens as the wood compresses, and you are back out there retorquing bolts in two years.
Dock Builders Supply stocks flat washers, oversized fender washers, and heavy plate washers in hot-dipped galvanized and 316 stainless, sized to match every bolt diameter we carry. Fender and plate washers matter most in green treated lumber and anywhere the connection sees cyclic load from wave action.
