Piling Caps

Pilings are the most expensive part of a dock to replace, and the top of the pile is where they fail first. Water sits in the end grain, works its way down, and rots the piling from the inside out while the outside still looks fine. A piling cap is a type of plastic cover that mounts on top of the piling like an end cap. It helps protect the piling end section from direct exposure to water (rain), bird droppings, and the like. It looks like a round or square cover that's either pointed with a coned shape or flat. They fit snug around the piling or post.

Dock Builders Supply stocks the widest selection of dock piling caps anywhere: round cone, round flat, square cone, and square flat profiles in half-inch increments from 5 inches to over 20 inches, plus copper polypropylene caps and solar lighted caps. Cone styles add bird deterrence; flat styles keep a lower profile.

Measure across the top of your piling and order the matching size. In most cases piling sizes will vary, so more times than not you'll buy varying sizes. Make sure you measure each piling you plan to fit so you get the right ones.
