Nails

Nails still have a place in dock construction, particularly in framing and sheathing where speed matters more than removability. What does not have a place is electro-galvanized or bright steel, which will bleed rust through treated lumber within a season.

Dock Builders Supply stocks hot-dipped galvanized and stainless nails built for marine exposure: common nails for framing, ring shank for holding power in decking, and roofing nails for boathouse and covered dock work.

For anything structural that may need to come apart, use bolts or screws instead. Send us your framing plan and we will build the fastener list at no charge.
