The two preferred designs for mooring buoys are a traditional buoy with steel hardware or a buoy with a tube through the center. This model is a tube-through-the-center design without hardware. The tube-through-the-center design allows the anchor chain to pass directly through the buoy, allowing you to attach your boat to the top of the buoy, making mooring much easier. Hardware is not included. To increase the life of the buoy and help prevent chafing from the chain at the top of the tube, an optional T3C mooring collar is available (sold separately). \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e The Sur-Moor(TM) taper shape design places more floatation area at the waterline creating a higher visibility mooring.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e Sur-Moor(TM) hard skin mooring buoys have a seamless and tough, one-piece polyethylene shell. Hard skin shells feature ultraviolet light absorbers for long-term life under the sun, and have a sandblasted finish which allows the buoy to be easily painted for identifying. Each system usually consists of a mooring buoy (to float the chain), a mooring anchor, and a length of chain that runs between the anchor and the mooring buoy. Also, the proper ground tackle includes correct-sized galvanized shackles and swivels. Always keep in mind that the mooring system is only as reliable as the current conditions of the environment.
